Jones, 70, of Batavia, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018, at Crossroads House in Batavia.Mary was born June 2, 1948, in Seneca Falls, a daughter of the late Leon and the late Leona (Bartlett) Jones.She was a Registered Nurse at Crouse Irving Hospital in Syracuse. She possessed a wide variety of expertise as an RN. She specialized in the Maternity, Orthopedics, Neo Natal Intensive Care as well as private duty nursing. She then became a foster parent for medical and special needs children in Cayuga and Wyoming Counties. Mary dedicated her life to caring for children. She was a member of Northgate Free Methodist Church in Batavia where she was active in the CLC program, Vacation Bible School and was a founder of the Friendship Class. She was a former member of the Montezuma United Methodist Church and served as the Sunday School director.Mary is survived by three sons, Sheldon L. Jones and Joshua S. Jones, both of Batavia, and Lee P. (Emily) Jones of Caledonia; a daughter, Jacqulyn M. Jones of Batavia; a sister, Donna Donovan of Montezuma; her lifelong friend, Bonita J. Tinklepaugh of Batavia; two grandchildren, Margaret Jones and Lee P. Jones, Jr., an uncle and aunt, Carter and Sharon Dorzbacher of Pleasantville; nieces and nephews, John Donovan, Karen (Rob) Bogan, Adam Tinklepaugh, Christine Tinklepaugh and Leon (Gayle) Syfrit.She is predeceased by her brother, Carl Jones and two nephews, Michael Donovan and Jason Lewis Tinklepaugh.Friends may call from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Friday Dec. 28, 2018 at the Northgate Free Methodist Church, 8160 Bank Street in Batavia where her funeral service will follow at 4:30 p.m. Private burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary’s memory may be made to Northgate Free Methodist Church, 8160 Bank St., Batavia, NY 14020 as well as Crossroads House, 11 Liberty St., Batavia, NY 14020. Arrangements were entrusted to the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, Batavia.
